The Arkansas State Red Wolves will play at the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2022, AStateNation has reported.
Arkansas State will travel to take on Ohio State at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Sept. 10, 2022. The game will mark-the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Per the report, Ohio State will pay Arkansas State a $1.8 million guarantee for playing the game.
Arkansas State has never beaten a current Big Ten Conference member. The Red Wolves are 0-3 vs. Nebraska, 0-2 vs. Minnesota, 0-1 vs. Iowa, 0-1 vs. Indiana, and 0-3 vs. Illinois.
The only current Sun Belt Conference member that Ohio State has faced are the Troy Trojans. The Buckeyes won that contest 28-10 back in 2008.
Arkansas State now has three non-conference opponents scheduled for the 2022 season. The Red Wolves are slated to open the season with back-to-back road games at Memphis on Sept. 3 and at Ohio State on Sept. 10 before hosting UMass on Nov. 12.
The addition of Arkansas State completes Ohio State’s 2022 football schedule. The Buckeyes are scheduled to open the season at home against Notre Dame on Sept. 3 and also host Toledo on Sept. 17, one week after the Arkansas State visit.
Ohio State’s Big Ten schedule for the 2022 season, with dates, has already been announced. The Buckeyes are scheduled to host Rutgers, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan and play at Michigan State, Penn State, Northwestern, and Maryland.
