After their 41-14 drubbing of then no. 8 Michigan, the Alabama Crimson Tide have ascended to the top of both the AP Top 25 Poll and the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll.
USC, who beat Hawaii 49-10, previously held the top spot in the AP Poll. The Trojans dropped one spot to second place. In the Coaches Poll, USC moved up one spot to second.
LSU was the preseason number one in the Coaches Poll. After beating North Texas 41-14, the Tigers remained at 3rd in the AP poll and fell from first to third in the Coaches Poll.
Michigan fell 11 places to 19th in both polls. Boise State fell out of the AP Poll while Auburn fell out of the Coaches Poll.
