The Alabama Crimson Tide, 11-0 after their 32-7 win over Mississippi State, remained on top of the latest BCS rankings released earlier today. Barring an upset against Auburn this weekend, the Tide should go into the SEC Championship game undefeated. A win over the Florida Gators in that game would propel Alabama to the BCS National Championship game.
The rest of the BCS Top 5 remained the same with Texas Tech second, followed by Texas, Florida and Oklahoma. The only team to fall out of the Top 10 was Georgia, who beat Auburn 17-13 but fell from 10th to 11th. Ohio State, who beat Illinois 30-20, swapped places with the Bulldogs.
Pivotal matchups this weekend that could alter the rankings include:
- Auburn at (1) Alabama
- (2) Texas Tech at (5) Oklahoma
- (14) BYU at (7) Utah
- (15) Michigan State at (8) Penn State
- Michigan at (10) Ohio State
