Abilene Christian and South Dakota have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2028 and 2029, it was reported Thursday.

The first of the two games is scheduled for the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D., on Sept. 2, 2028. ACU is scheduled to host South Dakota at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium in Abilene, Texas, on Sept. 1, 2029.

“This series with South Dakota is proof of our continued commitment to raising the standard of Abilene Christian football,” said Abilene Christian Vice President for Athletics Zack Lassiter. “We believe one of the ways to elevate ACU to the premier level of the Football Championship Subdivision is to play the best teams in the country. These kinds of games bring excitement to our program and fanbase, and give our student-athletes the opportunity to measure themselves against a top-level opponent.”

The matchups mark the first between the Wildcats and Coyotes.

The 2028 game is the second planned contest for Abilene Christian, joining a contest at Texas A&M. The Coyotes will face Drake on Aug. 23, 2029, with a second home date against Idaho on Sept. 8, 2029.
