The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Wisconsin Badgers canceled football game at Lambeau Field in 2020 has been rescheduled for the 2026 season, the two schools announced on Monday.

Notre Dame and Wisconsin were previously scheduled to meet at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisc., on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, but the game was canceled due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Fighting Irish and Badgers will now square off at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026. The two schools are scheduled to meet this season on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.

Lambeau Field is the home of the NFL’s Green Bay Packers. Nicknamed the “Frozen Tundra,” Lambeau Field has a seating capacity of 81,411 and last hosted a college football game in 2016 when Wisconsin defeated LSU 16-14.

Soldier Field, the home of the NFL’s Chicago Bears, seats a total of 61,500 fans. It has hosted several college football games over the years.

The games against Wisconsin will be the “Shamrock Series” game for Notre Dame for both seasons, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick stated at the press conference announcing the events three years ago.

Wisconsin will be the home team at Soldier Field in Chicago in 2021, while Notre Dame will be the home team at Lambeau Field in Green Bay in 2026.

Notre Dame and Wisconsin have met 16 times on the gridiron. The Fighting Irish lead the series 8-6-2, but the two schools haven’t squared off since a three-game series between 1962 and 1964.
