New Mexico State, UTSA schedule four-game football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The New Mexico State Aggies and the UTSA Roadrunners have scheduled a four-game, home-and-home football series beginning in 2024, both schools announced on Wednesday.

The series will begin with UTSA hosting New Mexico State at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Aug. 31, 2024. The Aggies will also return to play the Roadrunners at the Alamodome two seasons later on Oct. 3, 2026.

One season after the series kicks off in San Antonio, UTSA will travel to play New Mexico State at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M., on Sept. 20, 2025. The series will conclude with the Aggies hosting the Roadrunners again at Aggie Memorial Stadium on Sept. 22, 2029.

New Mexico State and UTSA have only met once previously on the gridiron. The Roadrunners defeated the Aggies 35-14 in that contest in Las Cruces in 2012 when both schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

New Mexico State is scheduled to open the fall 2021 season in Week Zero on Saturday, Aug. 28 at home against the UTEP Miners. Prior to that, the Aggies plan to play a three-game non-conference schedule this spring.

The UTSA Roadrunners are slated to open their fall 2021 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 4 on the road against the Illinois Fighting Illini.
